Art Emporium and Gallery B1E present Celebrating Black History an Art
Exhibition. Daniel Johnson and Alvin Hargrove will be exhibiting a
body of art work that has been influenced by black culture and history in
America. Residents of Rogers Park, Chicago's most diverse community,
both artists are excited for the opportunity to present their works in the
community where they live. Rogers Park continues to be one of
Chicago's most diverse communities that is home of over 25,000 African
American, Caribbean and Continental African people.
Daniel creates works that
emanate a series of moods. His
ability to play with light and dark tones and shadowing enables those who
view his work to sense feeling of each piece. Viewers experience an
elevated sensory experience and a unique perspective of the plight and
collective talents of gifted African-Americans.
Alvin uses vibrant colors and
an illustrative style to set the stage for storytelling. His Black
Americana series will be featured and images brought to life through the
presentation of monologues. These
orations highlight the influences and historical references that at
various points in history were predominant in the experience of Blacks in
America.
The exhibit opens to the
public on February 6th and runs until February 26th.
All are welcomed to drop by. Invitation
only receptions will be held on February 10th and 17th.
Both artists will be present to meet and greet guests. Light
refreshments will be served.
